Business Retention & Expansion
The Norfolk Area Economic Development Council’s Business Retention and Expansion (BRE) program is designed to support and strengthen local businesses by providing personalized assistance and connecting them with valuable resources. Through regular visits and open communication, we work to understand each company's unique needs, address challenges, and identify growth opportunities. Our team helps businesses navigate government processes, access workforce training programs, explore funding options, and connect with state and federal resources. By fostering a supportive environment, we aim to help businesses remain competitive and successful in our community.

Participating in our BRE program offers businesses the opportunity to benefit from workforce development initiatives, market insights, and strategic partnerships that encourage growth and expansion.

Site Selection
We offer comprehensive site selection services to help businesses find the ideal location for growth and success. Through our free online database, Location One Information System (LOIS), companies can explore available properties and sites across the region. Our team also provides personalized support to evaluate options based on specific criteria such as size, infrastructure, utilities, and workforce accessibility. Whether you're seeking commercial, industrial, or mixed-use spaces, we simplify the search process to ensure your business finds the right fit.

Beyond site identification, we collaborate closely with municipalities to navigate the public process efficiently. From zoning and permitting to incentives and infrastructure planning, we serve as a valuable partner in addressing regulatory requirements. Our goal is to streamline the process and help your project move forward quickly. With local expertise and a commitment to your success, the Norfolk Area Economic Development Council is here to make your site selection experience seamless and effective.

Business Resources
The Norfolk Area Business Resource Network (BRN) is a collaborative initiative that connects entrepreneurs and business owners with a wide range of established service providers and programs. Whether you're starting, growing, or transitioning a business, the Norfolk Area Economic Development Council serves as your central point of contact, making it easier to access the resources and support you need. From business planning and financing to mentorship and workforce development, the BRN streamlines the process to help you navigate every stage of your business journey.

By fostering collaboration among local and state organizations, the BRN minimizes duplication of services and ensures businesses receive the most effective support. Our team works closely with area partners to identify the right resources for your unique needs, saving you time and effort.

The Norfolk Area Economic Development Council is a strategic partnership between the City of Norfolk and Madison County, dedicated to fostering economic growth and opportunities across Madison County, Nebraska. Our team of economic development professionals serves as a resource for entrepreneurs, established businesses, and new ventures.

Our office also collaborates with area businesses to identify trends and proactively address opportunities for continued growth. This includes supporting workforce development, encouraging housing expansion, increasing childcare access, and pursuing placemaking initiatives that enhance quality of life. By working together, we ensure a thriving environment where companies and communities can succeed.

The economic development team members are City of Norfolk staff, guided by an advisory board with county-wide representation through the Norfolk Area Economic Development Council. The team also provides ex-officio representation and project management services for the Greater Norfolk Economic Development Foundation, further driving regional growth and collaboration.
