City of Norfolk

Any project lying within the city limits or within the two-mile zoning jurisdiction will require a building permit from the City offices. The building plan review process, conducted by the City’s engineering department, takes approximately two weeks.

State of Nebraska

In 2015, Governor Pete Ricketts and the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) announced the launch of online applications for storm water permits and general air construction permits issued by the department. The two new online permit applications, designed to cut red tape for the private sector, has taken the processing time from weeks to one to two days. By streamlining this application process, businesses are able to have permits in hand faster so they can begin construction sooner.
