Northeast, Wayne State collaborate to develop transfer initiatives

Northeast Community College and Wayne State College have strengthened their working relationship with the signing of a new memorandum of agreement.

The two colleges have had a long-standing working and transfer relationship to serve students since 1986. Over the years, various institutional and program agreements have been signed to create a seamless transfer for students between Northeast and Wayne State College.

The Norfolk company is partnering with Norfolk Junior High School and four other area schools to expose seventh- and eighth-graders to manufacturing and IT-related fields and machinery.

Norfolk High to offer apprenticeships through career academy

Norfolk High School students will now be able to earn money while they get firsthand work experience through the school’s career academy.

That was made possible Tuesday at the school’s first U.S. Department of Labor youth registered apprenticeship signing ceremony in the Johnny Carson Theatre. Continental ContiTech of Norfolk is the first business to partner with the career academy.

Wayne State part of new workforce development initiative

The Nebraska State College System is requesting state funding in support of a single strategic initiative — NebraskaFWD (Future Workforce Development) — those attending informational sessions on the initiative in Norfolk were told Wednesday.
